OUR MISSION at Empowering Communities Globally is to reduce the impact of poverty in the world’s marginalized and underserved populations by empowering communities through participation and education. Through compassionate and holistic early childhood care, development, and education we enable primary caregivers within their communities to provide nutritional support and to learn about preventative healthcare. By lifting up individuals within communities, we encourage and support sustainable community and economic development.

Where We Work

Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America with 42.5% of residents living below the poverty line and 44% of Nicaraguans live in rural areas such as Jalapa Valley.  Reports from the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (MINSA) indicate that 50% of the rural population has little access to basic health services, which are hampered by poverty, geographical isolation and poor roads.
Empowering Communities Globally has identified and sponsored local groups in our local area of Colorado to obtain Vitamin Angels’ resources for target populations, primarily pre-school age children, as well as offering education to families about nutrition and child development.
Hidden in the Himalayas, Nepal’s captivating land offers rich culture and rich landscapes. Located in the north are eight of ten of the highest mountains in the world, and in the south, jungles and more rural communities. An estimated 25 percent of the population lives below the international poverty line of $1.25 a day. Empowering  Communities Globally has worked in Nepal since 2011 and co-constructed two schools and a library in Darkha with Hands in Nepal. Since then Empowering  Communities Globally has partnered with  Partners in Sustainable Development to focus on early childhood working with early childhood facilitators and professionals.

Kijabe, Kenya is a city with a population around 22,000. Kijabe, is a Maasai word that means “Place of the Wind.” It stands on the edge of the Great Rift Valley at an elevation of 2200m and is located about 50 kilometers north-west of the capital city of Nairobi. Kijabe is quite poor and many of the children living there do not complete high school.

ECG has developed a partnership with Mama Beth’s Orphanage, which is located in Kijabe. Mama Beth’s is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization that provides fundamental support to children who truly need it and focuses on helping the orphaned, poor, abused, and abandoned street children in Kenya. For thirty-five years Mama Beth has been taking care of children who are without parents or whose families are unable to provide care.
